Independent Power Producer

Independent Power Producer

Ariya is a developer and active investor in utility-scale power projects, including gas-fired power plants. It provides development capital as well as project finance. To that end, Ariya has invested in the development of the Walvis Bay power plant and port in Namibia

The Walvis GasPort involves the development of a Natural Gas industry hub in Walvis Bay, Namibia which will enable the delivery of cost-effective energy and fuel to state, industry and public clients.
The project is based on a Floating Storage Unit (FSU), a Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) carrier and enabled by state-of-the-art onshore and offshore regasification facilities
The project kick starts a Natural Gas supply network in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region, enabling South Africa, Mozambique and Namibia to develop their gas-to-power markets and transition away from coal and towards a net zero economy.
Project to be commissioned at the end of 2023

The Nathanial Maxuilili Power

Plant will generate 586MW for the region, and address growing energy demand in the Southern Africa Power Pool (SAPP)
The plant will be a source of stable baseload and energy security that is critically required in Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Southern Angola and South Africa
Namibia, which currently imports 70% of its energy supplies could become a net energy exporter, and the project will create 400 direct and 1200 indirect job opportunities
Project to be commissioned end of 2024
